This article will highlight my favorite cash and GPP picks for the two-game primetime slate on DraftKings, which features the Sunday Night Football and the Monday Night Football games. Before we break down the top plays for the slate, let’s discuss general strategy for these smaller slates and take a look at each matchup individually.

General Strategy

In two or three game slates, we obviously have a smaller player pool from which to choose. As a result, we need to think about roster percentage in a different way, specifically if playing in GPPs. On the main slate, it’s generally recommended to play a mixture of chalky (15-25% rostered) players and a few contrarian plays or dart throws (sub 10% rostered) in order to help differentiate yourself from the field. In these smaller slates, the roster percentage is going to be inflated, and understanding that optimal lineups will probably only have one or two contrarian plays versus three to four in the main slate. Trying to get ‘too different’ can be counterproductive, as the players overall are a bit thinner given the lack of depth in the player pool.

Cash Game Top Plays

Patrick Mahomes $8,100
Mahomes is a no brainer play in cash games but is projected to be the highest rostered player on the entire slate for obvious reasons. Mahomes is a two-TD road favorite with the highest team implied total on the entire slate and has been red hot as of late. During the Chiefs’ six-game winning streak, he’s completing over 70% of his passes with a 17:1 TD-to-INT ratio. Mahomes also projects to be able to add production on the ground as the Denver defense is allowing the 6th most rushing yards to QBs this season while Mahomes is averaging a career-high in rushing yards per game.
