Week 8 Fantasy Football Duds
If fantasy football is trick or treating, these players are the equivalent of that house that hands out pencil erasers and boxes of raisins. Before you go smashing pumpkins, just remember that you are not alone and there’s always the next house. You can listen to the Footballers discuss these clowns on the podcast.
Quarterbacks
Russell Wilson @ NO
-253 passing yards, INT, 11 rushing yards
Rushell Wilshen has not thrown a TD pass since Week 4. As long as he’s taped up like a mummy, he’s going to underwhelm.
Cam Newton vs AZ
-212 passing yards, 43 rushing yards
The only thing scarier than the late hits is the fantasy numbers.
Running Backs
Mark Ingram vs SEA
-3 carries, 5 rushing yards, fumble
Oh no… Not only was Ingram benched, but Hightower looked good in relief. Reports out of the VooDoo capital are that this is an RBBC going forward.
Spencer Ware @ IND
-7 carries, 19 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 28 receiving yards
Ware left this game with a concussion, though he wasn’t very efficient with the carries he got.
James White @ BUF
–2 carries, 15 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 14 receiving yards
I am haunted by visions… there’s a man in a hoodie and he ruins my fantasy team.
Wide Receivers
T.Y. Hilton vs KC
-1 reception, 20 receiving yards, 6 targets
A few things of concern here. Hilton came up with a hamstring injury and Moncrief’s return will sap some of Hilton’s workload even when T.Y. is healthy.
Julio Jones vs GB
-3 receptions, 29 receiving yards, 5 targets
This is becoming a trend for Julio Jones. He is either balling out, or he is crippled by some foot/lower extremity injury.
DeAndre Hopkins vs DET
-4 receptions, 44 receiving yards, 7 targets
Until further notice, the Houston offense is having their big boy pants revoked.
Will Fuller vs DET
-1 reception, 23 receiving yards, 4 targets
[See above] Houston’s bye is coming at the perfect time for Fuller as he is dealing with a leg injury.
Doug Baldwin @ NO
–4 receptions, 51 receiving yards, 6 targets
This was a great matchup for Baldwin, but he will struggle as long as Wilson remains banged up.
Brandon Marshall @ CLE
-4 receptions, 68 receiving yards, 9 targets
It sure looks like Antonio Brown is going to be the proud owner of a new Porsche.
Mike Evans vs OAK
–4 receptions, 50 receiving yards, 11 targets, 2 pt conv
Mike Evans played against Oakland for 5 quarters and this is what we get? I don’t like being tricked.
Marvin Jones @ HOU
–3 receptions, 33 receiving yards, 7 targets
I’m worried that Marvin Jones was just wearing a Megatron mask for the first few weeks of the season. Maybe he was just masquerading as a WR1 and this is what he really is.
DeSean Jackson @ CIN (London)
–3 receptions, 48 receiving yards, 7 targets
You should move on from D-Jax. It’s starting to look like the Redskins are.
Brandon LaFell vs WAS (London)
-1 reception, 6 receiving yards, 2 targets
Classic LaFell.
Tight Ends
Greg Olsen vs AZ
–1 reception, 11 receiving yards, 3 targets
No! Greg! Don’t go in there! Oh, sorry… I thought Greg was stuck in a horror movie.
Zach Ertz @ DAL
-4 receptions, 19 receiving yards, 4 targets
I need to join a support group. I can’t quit Zach Ertz and it is starting to negatively affect those close to me.
Jack Doyle vs KC
–2 receptions, 36 receiving yards, 3 targets
Well… at least he isn’t Dwayne Allen, am I right?
Jimmy Graham @ NO
–3 receptions, 34 receiving yards, 5 targets
This was such a great matchup. The Seahawks really stepped in it this week.
Gary Barnidge vs NYJ
-3 receptions, 42 receiving yards, 7 targets
Josh McCown returned and threw for 341 yards yet, somehow Barnidge got left behind. There should be better weeks ahead for the Browns, there just has to be.
Kickers
Seriously guys… get it together.
Dishonorable Mentions
Matthew Stafford @ HOU
–240 passing yards, TD
Latavius Murray @ TB
-11 carries, 48 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 23 receiving yards
Chris Thompson @ CIN (London)
–7 carries, 14 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 27 receiving yards
Allen Robinson @ TEN
–6 receptions, 70 receiving yards, 15 targets
Golden Tate @ HOU
-7 receptions, 42 receiving yards, 9 targets
Demaryius Thomas vs SD
–5 receptions, 79 receiving yards, 10 targets
Emmanuel Sanders vs SD
–4 receptions, 68 receiving yards, 10 targets
