Week 13 Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football)
With only one or two weeks left until your fantasy playoffs, it’s prep time to get your team playoff ready or to play spoiler and keep a league mate from sneaking into the mix. If you’re already a lock for the playoffs, congratulations. If you’re on the bubble, keep fighting. If you know there’s no chance to make it, DON’T GIVE UP. Playing spoiler can be a gratifying feeling.
Either way, the waiver wire will be an important asset as we move forward toward the playoffs. Remember to look for players you need now, players you need over the next few weeks, and players that your league mates may need to pick up that you can steal instead.
Make sure you listen to the Week 13 Waiver Wire episode for The Fantasy Footballers’ takes on each of these players and who you should target for the rest of the season. Also, check out the Week 12 Injury Recap for the latest injuries and their implications for your fantasy team.

WR
DeVante Parker and Deebo Samuel are most likely owned at 75% and 67% respectively, but it’s worth checking just in case someone had to drop them because of bye weeks or injuries. Parker faces the 27th worst Jets, 31st worst Giants, and 10th worst Bengals for Weeks 14 – 16. Samuels’ schedule is a little tougher with the Saints, Falcons, and Rams, but he has been a focal point in the offense, even with George Kittle and Emmanual Sanders active.
Since Sterling Shepard was out for an extended period of time with concussion issues, it’s possible he has been dropped in your leagues at 54% ownership. A more likely candidate is Daniel Jones‘ favorite target, Darius Slayton at 25% ownership. Not only is the Giants’ schedule incredibly juicy moving forward, but Golden Tate‘s future is uncertain with the concussion protocol looming. Likewise, Saquon Barkley is surrounded by question marks, and Jones may be forced to throw. Shepard was targeted nine times and caught five of them for 15 yards upon his return in Week 12. Slayton caught four receptions on seven targets for 67 yards in the same week against the stout Bears’ defense. It’s important to note that while last week’s numbers weren’t sparkling with touchdowns, they were facing one of the best defenses against WRs. They will face the 24th worst Eagles, 25th worst Dolphins, and the 14th worst Redskins for the playoffs.
I understand that Pittsburgh has seen better days when it comes to their offense. As a Juju Smith-Schuster owner, trust me, I can relate. However, with Mason Rudolph benched, Devlin the “duck caller” Hodges, stepped in and injected some much-needed life into the team. With Smith-Schuster and James Conner questionable, James Washington and Diontae Johnson are the two main WRs for Hodges to target. The quarterback uncertainty is frightening, but their schedule should give the Steelers an opportunity to take advantage of back matchups as they face the Browns, Cardinals, Bills, and Jets down the stretch.

RB
The headaches over the RBs for Week 12 continue. As soon as we think we have a handle on who will get the rock, coaches have no regard for our efforts in fantasy and feature someone else completely. Two perfect examples are Bo Scarbrough from Week 11 and then Benny Snell from last week. Now we have to deal with Chris Carson‘s fumble concerns and whether or not we can trust Rashaad Penny to get it done for the Seahawks and keep his newly found starring role in that offense. I feel like we’ve been there before and it didn’t end well. Then, if we don’t have injury or one-fumble-away-from-the-bench concerns, we are looking at the dreaded by-committee approach, which can be just as bad.
There is one name that I feel confident in targeting on the wire and that is Benny Snell. Samuels owners were incredibly disappointed with only two attempts for six total yards rushing, while Snell exploded with 21 attempts for 98 yards and a reception for five yards.

TE
Other than Jack Doyle, Mo Alie-Cox, and Irv Smith Jr., all of the TEs on this list are at 40% ownership or above so might not be available in your league. Always check, just in case. Jack Doyle could see the biggest bump in target share with Eric Ebron sidelined for the rest of the season. This also gives Alie-Cox an opportunity in the offense, however, Doyle is the player I would look to for fantasy.
If by some miracle, Ryan Griffin is still available on the waiver wire, run… do not walk… to your phone and pick him up immediately. QB Sam Darnold is in a groove and has targeted Griffin 21 times for 13 receptions and 127 yards in the last three weeks.
The same is true for Dallas Goedert who will continue to work alongside Zach Ertz and benefit from the multitude of WR injuries on the Philadelphia Eagles. Since Week 7, Goedert has racked up 28 targets for 21 receptions, 198 yards, and three touchdowns.
