NFL Week 4 Weather Conditions (Fantasy Football)
We’re definitely going to see some pretty strong wind in Denver, but the weather will be pleasant in most games. One game to keep an eye on is in Miami. The weather looks good so far, but the winds are up there so watch the weather leading up to that one. I’ll also post an update late tomorrow morning here.

Fantasy Impact: Denver is one of the windier cities in the NFL. Winds in excess of 10 mph are the norm, but these winds are definitely edging into concerning levels. Sustained winds will hover right around 20 mph and we could see gusts in the 30-35 mph range. This is not good. Anything above 20 mph winds can become a problem for the passing games and kickers in particular.
Jacksonville comes into the game on a high after cruising to a home win against the hapless Tennessee Titans. One of the things that helped Jacksonville in that game was the continued connection between Gardner Minshew and D.J. Chark who scored a TD in his third straight game. This isn’t lining up to be a Chark game. Chark is averaging a 15.3 yard average target distance (17th in the league) and 3.69 yards/route run (seventh in the league). To this point, he’s managed to combine those metrics with an 83.3% catch rate. These numbers are ripe for regression especially in this game in these conditions. Don’t chase last week’s points. The same largely goes for Gardner Minshew.
Despite the fashion style that falls just short of fish tank platform shoes and newly-acquired Uncle Rico throwing motion, Minshew has been pedestrian for fantasy. The only reliable Jaguar in this game is Leonard Fournette whose usage has been game-script proof even if it lacks the upside most bell-cow backs bring to the table.
Denver is a team that seems to have some good pieces, but hasn’t put up 17 or more points yet this year. Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman will continue to split touches – good luck figuring out which one will outscore the other. Courtland Sutton has been goodish with 247 yards this season, but the wind won’t help him. Emmanuel Sanders becomes very interesting in this game.
Adam Humphries was the lone bright spot on an otherwise offensive no-show by the Titans against Jacksonville last week. Between the wind and Jacksonville’s struggles stopping underneath routes, Sanders looks to be well situated for a bounce-back game. Joe Flacco? No.
Both defenses are playable though I’d lean towards the home team. Ohh and the kickers. Like Joe Flacco, you can find better options.
