Carson Palmer, QB, ARZ

Fractured Left Arm: out 8 weeks
Another week, another starting quarterback done for the year. Carson Palmer went down in the second quarter of the Cardinals Week 7 matchup with the Rams. He did not return to the game, and reports quickly surfaced that an x-ray revealed a broken bone in the left arm that would require surgery to stabilize the broken bone. The initial prognosis on Palmer is an 8-week recovery timeline, which means he wouldn’t return until Week 15 at the earliest. Given that Arizona is likely headed for a sub .500 season, their chances of making the playoffs are slim to none. As a result, it’s possible the Cardinals hold Palmer out for the rest of the year. In the meantime, Drew Stanton will be under center, which is an obvious downgrade for all of the pass catchers in the desert.

Other players impacted: Drew Stanton, Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown, Jaron Brown, JJ Nelson, Adrian Peterson

C.J. Prosise, RB, SEA

Sprained Ankle: week to week
Ugh, so frustrating. The former Notre Dame star just can’t stay healthy. He entered the weekend questionable to play with a sprained ankle, and it appears as though he returned a bit too early after re-aggravating the ankle on Sunday. Prosise played just two snaps on Sunday prior to the injury. Given that he continues to struggle to return to the field and that Seattle has a stable of backs, I expect the Seahawks to sit Prosise in Week 8. His practice status this week will provide insight as to his availability for Week 8.

Other players impacted: Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, JD McKissic

Delanie Walker, TE, TEN

Sprained Ankle and Bone Bruise: week to week
Delanie Walker was having himself a nice fantasy day prior to exiting late in the 4th quarter with a sprained ankle. He was unable to put any weight on the ankle immediately after the injury, which always raises a concern for a fracture. Fortunately, his x-rays came back clean, and he escaped with a bone bruise. With the Titans on bye in Week 8, Walker will have two weeks to get rid of the swelling, restore full range of motion, and gradually get back to football activities.

Other players impacted: Jonnu Smith, Marcus Mariota, Rishard Matthews, Eric Decker

Mike Wallace, WR, BAL

Concussion: day to day
Wallace took a brutal hit while coming across the middle during Sunday’s match up with the Vikings. It was a scary play, as Wallace laid motionless on the ground for a brief period of time. He entered the game questionable to play with a back injury, so he is certainly banged up right now. With the Ravens playing on Thursday night, it will be difficult for Wallace to be ready to go.  Watch his practice status closely with Thursday night quickly approaching.

Other players impacted: Joe Flacco, Jeremy Maclin, Ben Watson, Javorius Allen

Jay Cutler, QB, MIA

Broken Ribs: week to week
Jay Cutler went down in Week 7 with multiple fractured ribs. As we’ve seen this year, other players such as Rob Kelley and Ty Montgomery have struggled to play through rib injuries due to the fact that this diagnosis is extremely painful. Of note, the Dolphins play on Thursday night, so Cutler will miss at least Week 8 and potentially beyond. Matt Moore will start in his place.

Other players impacted: Matt Moore, Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, Julius Thomas

Dan Bailey, K, DAL

Groin strain: out multiple weeks
Kickers don’t normally make this list, but Dan Bailey is as good as it gets when it comes to a “boom boom kicker” each week – just ask Jason. Unfortunately, Bailey exited early with a groin injury to his kicking (right) leg, and head coach, Jason Garrett, confirmed that Bailey will be out “at least a couple of weeks” with a groin strain.

Other players impacted: Dallas is expected to bring in multiple kickers for a workout this week
