Biggest Studs
Deshaun Watson, QB Texans
Week 13 vs NE: 18/25 for 234 yds & 3 TD | 4 rushes for -1 yds | 1 reception for 6 yds & 1 TD
Upcoming Schedule: DEN, @TEN, @TB
Deshaun Watson cracked the code. Lamar Jackson is the only other QB who did well against the Patriots. Watson looked great Sunday and even played the role of a receiver on a trick play where he caught a touchdown. Only one other QB has scored at least 13 points against the Patriots. If you exclude Lamar Jackson, the Patriots defense has held opposing quarterbacks to an average of 5.7 points per game. Enough about the Patriots D… Watson proved himself this week and should be considered a QB1 once again in the upcoming Week 14 matchup against another stout defense (Broncos).
James White, RB Patriots
Week 13 at HOU: 14 rushes for 79 yards | 8 receptions for 98 yards & 2 TD on 11 targets
Upcoming Schedule: KC, @CIN, BUF
James White was explosive on Sunday and acted as Brady’s go-to-guy. He led all Patriots pass catchers in receptions. While the Patriots offense struggled to get things going against the Texans, White emerged as one of the few targets Brady could trust. Before Sunday’s matchup, White only surpassed 10 points once in his previous six games. I expect White to be productive in the coming weeks as the Patriots look to re-ignite their offense. White is probably Brady’s favorite target besides Edelman, and he should get a lot of work as the Patriots try to boat race the Chiefs next week.
DeVante Parker, WR Dolphins
Week 13 vs PHI: 7 receptions for 159 yards & 2 TD on 10 targets
Upcoming Schedule: @NYJ, @NYG, CIN
This next “stud” is the same wide receiver we were all hyping up in the offseason for these reasons:
- New head coach.
- New quarterback.
- Anemic offense.
- He’s on the worst team in the conference.
- The team is willing to trade top tier players for draft picks.
- 5th-year player who has continually disappointed year after year.
We’ve heard this breakout story a thousand times folks, it’s a tale as old as time. It’s Devante Parker, of course! Wait… That’s right – no one saw this coming.
The Fantasy Footballers called it a couple of weeks ago – DeVante Parker is going to win leagues. He’s been a great fantasy player for weeks now, with four straight weeks with double-digit targets. He also has a juicy playoff schedule. DeVante Parker is a great player to own right now, put him in your lineup and enjoy the ride!
Biggest Stinkers
Nick Foles, QB Jaguars
Week 13 vs TB: 7/14 for 93 passing yards & 1 INT | 1 rush for 3 yards | 2 fumbles
Upcoming Schedule: LAC, @OAK, @ATL
Nick Foles might just be the most interesting man alive. He beat the Patriots in the Superbowl in 2018 with a stat-line of 28/43 for 373 yards, 3 TD passes, 1 INT, & 1 TD reception. That same player struggled against Tampa Bay this past Sunday, who is giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing QB in the league. I think Nick Foles is only good in pressure situations if he’s wearing an Eagles jersey. His career average fantasy points as a non-Eagle is just 8.96 pts per game. The Jaguars benched Foles, and you should too.
Tevin Coleman, RB 49ers
Week 13 @ BAL: 5 rushes for 6 yards | 1 reception for 9 yards on 1 target
Upcoming Schedule: @NO, ATL, LAR
Do you remember Coleman’s hot start to the year? He had 13 or more points in three of his first five games, including a Week 8 explosion with 36.8 fantasy points. Since that time, he only has one double-digit game (11.9 points). The 49ers rotate several running backs into the mix every week, so every week we should expect one of them to produce. The challenge, however, is picking who is going to be productive on any given week. Coleman has a tough matchup next week and should not be in fantasy lineups. Coleman appears to be a roster clogger. You don’t want to drop him, but you certainly can’t start him. After several disappointing weeks in a row (and assuming he is a stinker again next week), are you really going to feel comfortable starting him Week 15? Or even Week 16 for that matter? That’s gonna be a no for me dawg.
Tyreek Hill, WR Chiefs
Week 13 vs OAK: 5 receptions for 55 yards (FIFTY FIVE!) on 8 targets | 1 rush for -4 yards
Upcoming Schedule: @NE, DEN, @CHI
Tyreek put up a dud in Week 13. He also has arguably the most difficult playoff schedule of any fantasy player. Tyreek wasn’t needed in this matchup against Oakland, but he is always one play away from exploding in your lineup. He remains a must-start every week. Don’t get cute.
