Biggest Week 10 Studs and Stinkers (Fantasy Football)
With Week 10 mostly in the books, The Fantasy Footballers review and react to the Studs & Duds performances on the latest episode. Here, I’ll highlight the best and worst fantasy finishes from Week 10 and list their upcoming schedule. Note that all fantasy points are in the 0.5-point scoring format. Biggest Studs
Kyler Murray, QB Cardinals
Week 10 at TB: 27/44 for 324 passing yards, 3 TD, & 1 INT | 3 rushes for 38 yards
Upcoming Schedule: @SF, BYE, LAR, / PIT, CLE, @SEA
The Cardinals kept pace with the Buccaneers Sunday, and Murray had one of his best performances of the year. Kyler has been a solid fantasy asset and will continue to produce. However, he will be borderline benchable in several of his upcoming matchups: @SF, Bye, PIT.
Christian Kirk, WR Cardinals
Week 10 at TB: 6 receptions for 138 yards & 3 TD on 10 targets
Upcoming Schedule: @SF, BYE, LAR, / PIT, CLE, @SEA
Kirk had a monster game, his best of 2019. Kirk amassed 138 receiving yards, which accounts for 30% of his yardage so far this season. He has some tough matchups ahead but should be a solid WR3 with upside from Week 13 onward.
Derrick Henry, RB Titans
Week 10 vs KC: 23 rushes for 188 yards & 2 TD | 2 receptions for 3 yards on 2 targets
Upcoming Schedule: BYE, JAX, @IND, / @OAK, HOU, NO
Henry logged his best game this season in a juicy matchup versus the Chiefs. Henry led the Titans to a victory against Andy Reid’s powerful Chiefs. Henry should continue to be a reliable weapon and could possibly blow up again in the playoffs as he did in 2018. His Week 16 matchup versus New Orleans is concerning, but he has a good schedule through Week 15. Henry is a must-start at the position.
Biggest Stinkers
David Johnson, RB Cardinals
Week 10 at TB: 5 rushes for 2 yards | 1 reception for 8 yards on 1 target | 1 fumble
Upcoming Schedule: @SF, BYE, LAR, / PIT, CLE, @SEA
What happened to David Johnson? He is the most frustrating player in fantasy football after putting up duds his last two starts. Kenyan Drake was the clear starter on Sunday, doubling the number of rush attempts than Johnson. Drake also received 7 targets to DJ’s single target. Johnson didn’t help his case by fumbling. It gets worse… DJ faces a stout 49ers defense next week in San Francisco. David Johnson is unusable until he gets more volume, and I fear he will be a roster clogger for the next month or more. Is he injured? Is he past his prime? Or is Drake the superior talent? It remains to be seen, but he will undoubtedly ride your bench until we learn more. Speaking as someone who bought Johnson low a few weeks ago, I am very concerned with his outlook for the rest of the season.
Saquon Barkley, RB Giants
Week 10 @ NYJ: 13 rushes for 1 TD | 5 receptions for 30 yards on 5 targets
Upcoming Schedule: BYE, @CHI, GB, / @PHI, MIA, @WAS
The Giants lost despite putting up a respectable 27 points on offense versus a confusing Jets team that’s still trying to find its identity. Saquon was unproductive despite there being flashes of brilliance on offense. Better weeks are ahead for Saquon, don’t freak out!
Ezekiel Elliot, RB Cowboys
Week 10 vs MIN: 20 rushes for 47 yards | 2 receptions for 16 yards on 3 targets
Upcoming Schedule: @DET, @NE, BUF, / @CHI, LAR, @PHI
Gross. What is this? The week of the disappointing stud RB?
Cooper Kupp, WR Rams
Week 10 @ PIT: 0 receptions on 4 targets
Upcoming Schedule: CHI, BAL, @ARI, / SEA, @DAL, @SF
Kupp received the fourth-most targets among Rams pass catchers this week, his lowest of the season by far. The Steelers’ solid defense shut him down. He’ll bounce back and be just fine, although his matchup on championship weekend is a tough one: @ 49ers. Still, he’s a plug-and-play WR.
Stefon Diggs, WR Vikings
Week 10 at DAL: 3 receptions for 49 yards on 6 targets
Upcoming Schedule: DEN, BYE, @SEA, / DET, @LAC, GB
Diggs disappointed for a second straight week. Owners are frustrated at the lack of production two weeks in a row without Thielen on the field. The Vikings have a respectable 7-3 record by riding Dalvin Cook in the running game. Minnesota can win without having to lean on its talented wide receivers, which means that Diggs is somewhat of a boom-bust player. He has a tough matchup against Denver next week followed by a bye.
