In this article, I will review NFL team performance trends going into Week 5. Please reference the tables at the end of the article for any stats mentioned. Let’s jump into things.

Offensive Takeaways

The Bills still stand at the top of offensive efficiency in the league, with a 0.18 EPA/play (expected points added). They face the Patriots, who have a neutral defensive EPA/play on the season, giving Buffalo a good test. The Patriots have allowed the most points to WRs over other positions this year (2.9 per touch).

The Packers are heating up offensively. Ranking 6th overall in offensive efficiency via EPA/play, they saw an uptick in performance last week (see line graph below). Look for them to continue to improve as their young receiver core continues to see reps.

The Chargers have regressed; they sit at a 0.0 EPA/play offensively on the year. It might be a good time to sell high for your Chargers players.

The Steelers had a great offensive performance in Week 4, and have a 0.04 EPA/play on the year. Going into their bye week, they look strong, making them a reputable offensive machine moving into the middle of the year.

The Bengals are lost without Joe Burrow. Not only has Chase’s production gone down, but they rank 3oth in the league in EPA/play. They face the Lions in Week 5, making the Lions defense a strong pick-up.

The Giants saw a slight uptick in EPA/play last week with the emergence of Jaxson Dart. They face a Saints team that allows a high number of points across every position, so start your Giants this weekend.

Defensive Takeaways

The Ravens continue to struggle against RBs, allowing 1.12 points per touch. They play the Texans in Week 5, giving Woody Marks another opportunity to break out.

The Cowboys have allowed a whopping 3.11 points per touch to WRs on the year, and face the Jets in Week 5. Look for a massive Garrett Wilson and Justin Fields performance.

The Commanders lead the league in points allowed per touch to TEs, at 3.23. They face the Chargers in Week 5, giving Will Dissly the chance to shine.

Look out for Darius Slayton and Wandale Robinson in Week 5, as the Saints allow a high 3.07 points per touch to WRs.

The Chiefs are heating up, but they still allow 1.04 points per touch to RBs. Look for a huge performance from Travis Etienne in Week 5. On the flip side, Kansas City only allows 2.43 points per touch to WRs, which is low compared to the rest of the league; Brian Thomas‘ struggles will likely continue.

Seattle has allowed a low 0.34 points per touch to QBs on the season, which is bad news for Baker Mayfield. Mayfield, who is battling an injury going into Week 5, could have a below-average performance against the Seahawks.

While the Panthers haven’t been great against any position defensively, they have truly struggled against TEs, allowing nearly 3 points per touch to them. They have the Dolphins in Week 5, so Darren Waller is in for another massive performance. Don’t forget to slot him into your lineups for another boom!
