Week 4 DFS Fades
The following are players I would not play in cash, but could be contrarian plays in GPP’s. Let’s get that out of the way, becauseĀ I’ll be honest, the fades have not worked out in my favor and I apologize for that.
I could easily write about scrubs to fade, but keep in mind I’ve been suggesting players who are either too expensive, questionable due to injuries, or are in bad matchups, Like LeSean McCoy last week. If you think McCoy returned value last week with his 10 FanDuel points, he didn’t. When fading players I also keep in mind what their ownership is projected to be at. I don’t want to play Tom Brady if he’s going to be 30 percent owned. 14 of the 16 millionaire maker lineups last year had a QB who was owned by fewer than 10 percent of people.
I suggested fading Brady last week in tournaments, and although that seemed like a bad call, if you spent down on Jacoby Brissett like I mentioned in GPP’s you were ahead of the curve because you saved almost $5K. I said if you want to roll Odell Beckham Jr. and DeMarco Murray out in head-to-head contests, be my guest. I will hardly ever play a guy who is not 100 percent in cash. I will almost always play them in tournaments because I think people will be off of them. A good example this week is Jay Ajayi. Will I play him in cash? No, I won’t, but I’ll play him in GPPs.
With that said, if you want to fade my fades, do it! It hasn’t been pretty of late with some of the players I’ve suggested. Let’s regroup and go after it again. Good luck to all!
Derek Carr, Amari Cooper & Marshawn Lynch @ DEN
In Carr’s last game against the Broncos he threw for 184 yards with zero touchdowns. In his last game in Denver he threw for 135 yards with a 41 completion percentage. Cooper had zero catches on eight targets in that game. This is just a tough matchup for Carr who looked awful in a good one last week against Washington. As for Lynch, the Broncos are currently number 1 in run DVOA.
