The Running Back position has historically dominated the redraft fantasy football landscape for years. Yet, with the league going more and more pass happy by the year, league-wide rushing production has continued to gradually decline. Thus, should we use this macro-level information to guide our DFS lineups by de-emphasizing the importance of the RB position? Absolutely not. In fact, since DFS is a weekly game, it makes the RB position even MORE important when creating lineups. Here’s why:

Every fantasy football player understands how important volume is yet that importance is elevated to extreme levels in DFS where you’re rostering players to light the league on fire for literally just one game. With the inherent high amount of year-to-year and especially week-to-week variance in the NFL due to small sample sizes, accurately predicting who will dominate the fantasy football player pool on a weekly basis is no small task. Therefore, we need to put ourselves in the best position possible in order to give ourselves a chance.
