Game Outlook

Week 2 kicks off with an AFC East showdown when the 1-0 Bills travel to South Beach take on the 1-0 Dolphins in a game that could have post-season implications late in the year. Let’s start with the home team here after they were able to pull out a victory over the Jags a week ago thanks to a last second FG. The headline here, and really, the key to slate from a projection standpoint is the RB injury situation. As noted above, Raheem Mostert has already been ruled out with a chest injury while DeVon Achane has not practiced on a short week due to an ankle injury. Achane’s status will be crucial to monitor up until lock as it will drastically affect the DFS viability of Jeff Wilson and/or Jaylen Wright, who was a healthy scratch in Week 1. Perhaps more importantly, however, the RB injuries could funnel even more volume to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as Mike McDaniel has always been one of the best NFL coaches in getting the hands of his best players. With Achane potentially limited and Mostert out, I love leaning into Tyreek and Waddle here as the no brainer focal point of the offense, especially against a Bills defense down second-team All-Pro CB Taron Johnson. If Achane sits, Waddle and Tyreek should each have a path to 8+ targets after Achane caught seven passes a week ago. In that Week 1 game, Miami dropped back at a 56% clip when the game was within one score. Now with their top RBs banged up, and a tight spread, it’s reasonable to expect that number to climb a bit in this matchup against a banged up Bills defense.
