Every week the First Look article gives you a taste of the slate and some of the more intriguing salaries that DraftKings releases. The goal is to identify early-week cash game considerations, as well as potential tournament plays before we piece together the stacking options. On Tuesdays, I share some of these insights on the Fantasy Footballers DFS & Betting Podcast if you want further commentary on some of the salary standouts.

Check back later in the week when Matthew Betz and I share our official DraftKings and FanDuel picks for cash and GPPs exclusively in the DFS Pass.

Here are the games for this week’s main slate* including implied team totals (TIP) for each matchup.

Overview

For newcomers, the main slate for DFS includes the Sunday early (1:00 EST) and afternoon games (4:05 EST). At first glance, here are a couple of things to note:

  • Off the Main Slate: DET, DAL, KC, HOU, PHI, LAC
  • Bye Week Teams: CAR, NE, NYG, SF
  • We go to an 11-game main slate with only a handful of game environments above 48 points on the week. We also have an absolute stinker on hand between TEN & CLE.

I’ve also added a glossary of metrics at the bottom  if you want a quick refresher or definition of some of the statistics used below.

Quarterbacks

High-Priced Studs: Josh Allen ($7700) against the Bengals feels like a dream come true for fantasy.

Points per $ Cash Guys: Jacoby Brissett ($5700) and the Cardinals lead the NFL in Pass Rate over Expectation by a wide margin since he took over as their QB… Trevor Lawrence ($5400) is on a roll recently as a top-12 QB in four of his last five games.

GPP Intrigue: With a run of ugly games, it would be easy to count out Lamar Jackson ($6700) as a waste of salary. But the upside is mighty tempting in a must-win game for Baltimore.. Baker Mayfield ($5800) is sitting at his lowest salary since Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Cheapies: Tyler Shough ($4600) is a gross name to bring up but Tampa Bay’s pass defense is that bad. They rank 29th in passing yards per game allowed and dead last in schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs since Week 9.
