Week 9 Fantasy Football Duds
Fantasy Football can be a cruel mistress. First, you must bench all your Bears, Bengals, Cardinals, Patriots, Redskins, and Texans. Then the few players you have left crap your team. If this was your experience in Week 9, my condolences. Hopefully, Week 10 is kinder to your aspirations for a #FootClanTitle. You can listen to the full Pooped in His Big Boy Pants segment on the podcast.
Quarterbacks
Andrew Luck @ GB
-281 passing yards, TD, 2 INTs, 15 rushing yards
Cam Newton @ LA
-225 passing yards, TD, 16 rushing yards
Two QBs who did just enough to get the real-life win for their teams, but they didn’t do much to secure wins in fantasy football. Do not @ them.
Running Backs
Todd Gurley vs CAR
-12 carries, 48 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 26 receiving yards
If there’s any silver lining to Gurley’s season it is that he is being used in the passing game. So there’s that.
Charcandrick West vs JAX
-13 carries, 39 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 35 receiving yards
Fantasy owners were hoping for a Charizard but all they got was a Pidgey.
Devontae Booker @ OAK
-10 carries, 20 rushing yards, 1 reception, 8 receiving yards
What got into the Raiders defense this week? Goodness.
Jerick McKinnon vs DET
–7 carries, 8 yards
Matt Asiata vs DET
-9 carries, 27 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 14 receiving yards
These two RBs were so bad, they made Ronnie Hillman look like a professional football player.
Isaiah Crowell vs DAL
-6 carries, 4 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 63 receiving yards
The receiving yards seem encouraging, but most of them came on the Brown’s first drive before the Cowboys got off the plane.
Wide Receivers
Marvin Jones Jr. @ MIN
–1 reception, 5 receiving yards, 5 targets
Xavier Rhodes is no slouch, but this was a poor performance.
Dez Bryant @ CLE
–1 reception, 19 receiving yards, 4 targets
Cleveland must have been covering Dez with 7 defenders. It’s the only explanation that makes sense.
Michael Crabtree vs DEN
–2 receptions, 27 receiving yards, 6 targets
With Aqib Talib missing another game, there was cause for hope with this passing attack, but the Raiders did most of their damage on the ground.
Willie Snead @ SF
-3 receptions, 33 receiving yards, 6 targets
Snead has become the 3rd option in the Saints passing attack, behind Thomas and Cooks, in that order.
Demaryius Thomas @ OAK
–5 receptions, 56 receiving yards, 10 targets
Emmanuel Sanders @ OAK
–5 receptions, 47 receiving yards, 11 targets
You expect more from these two studs when you see double-digit target numbers for each.
Brandon Marshall vs MIA
–6 receptions, 45 receiving yards, 9 targets
Ryan Fitzpatrick is a miserable NFL QB, but he is a lot better for Brandon Marshall’s fantasy value than Bryce Petty.
Tight Ends
Coby Fleener @ SF
–3 receptions, 42 receiving yards, 6 targets
You’re still here? It’s over. Go home. Go.
Dishonorable Mentions
Le’Veon Bell @ BAL
-14 carries, 32 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 38 receiving yards
Terrance West vs PIT
–15 carries, 21 rushing yards, 1 reception, 6 receiving yards
Rashad Jennings vs PHI
–11 carries, 26 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 13 receiving yards
Ty Montgomery vs IND
–7 carries, 53 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 38 receiving yards
Quincy Enunwa @ MIA
-1 reception, 25 receiving yards, 4 targets
Tyreek Hill vs JAX
–2 carries, 21 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 11 receiving yards, 5 targets
Corey Coleman vs DAL
–3 receptions, 41 receiving yards, 7 targets
