Week 6 Waiver Wire (Fantasy Football)
If you were lucky enough to have players like Christian McCaffrey, DeShaun Watson, or Aaron Jones, you’re probably feeling pretty good about your fantasy week. If you started DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, and practically any streaming tight end, you are most likely wondering why you ever bothered to play the game in the first place. Couple these booms and busts with even more injuries and upcoming bye weeks and you may be left lamenting fantasy football altogether.
Fear not. I’m sure you know this, but it’s worth repeating as many times as possible. It’s the nature of fantasy football. Before you freak out and start rage dropping players or trading away superstars to chase points, let’s take a look at some waiver wire targets to get you through Week 6.
Percentages owned are based on Yahoo! For detailed information on Week 5 injuries, read Week 5 Fantasy Football Injury Recap. Check out Week 5 Snap Count Observations to see if how much your waiver wire target is getting involved in the offense.
Check out the Week 6 Waiver Wire episode of The Fantasy Footballers Podcast for the full breakdown of the following waiver targets.
WR
The Raiders, Bears, Bills, and Colts are all on a bye this week but luckily this shouldn’t take a drastic hit on your wide receivers. The big names you won’t have this week are Allen Robinson and T.Y. Hilton while the other receivers are mostly streamable options.
Check your waiver wire to see if Michael Gallup, Golden Tate, or Robby Anderson are already owned. Gallup is a week removed from injury at 68% owned in Yahoo! and went 7/31/1 on 14 targets. Tate is one week removed from suspension and had an unremarkable debut of 3/13/0 on 6 targets in the Giants matchup against Vikings. Tate plays the Patriots in Week 7 but then has a juicy matchup Week 8 against the Cardinals and then the Lions after that. Robby Anderson may finally get QB Sam Darnold back and therefore be more than just a warm body on the field to take up space.
If those names aren’t available, check out the following options to targets at the wide receiver position.

RB
Josh Jacobs, David Montgomery, Frank Gore, and Marlon Mack are heavy hitters you will be missing this week. Hopefully, you planned for these absences but other notable names on the injury watch are David Johnson with a back injury and Wayne Gallman in the concussion protocol. The Giants’ Saquon Barkley is miraculously ahead of schedule but has not been cleared to play in Week 6. In Barkley and Gallman’s place comes Jon Hilliman if you need someone to cover the RB position in your lineup.
It’s also worth checking to see if Tevin Coleman is available at 71% owned and went 16/9/1 against the Browns Monday night despite Matt Breida‘s two touchdowns. Chris Thompson at 64% ownership is another name to look for being heavily involved in the passing game for the Redskins. After firing head coach Jay Gruden, the Redksins should be getting back to the run game to help out rookie QB Dwayne Haskins. Although Thompson did not score a touchdown, he went 4/21/0 as well as 5/17/0 on 7 targets and will face the Dolphins this week.
NYG Jon Hilliman (0% owned)

TE
If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting for Chris Herndon to return from suspension and hopefully give your team that extra push it needs to make a difference between a win and a loss. Unfortunately, you may need to wait a bit longer for Herndon to return. Jets’ head coach Adam Gase has said that he will evaluate Herndon during practice this week to see if he will be active for Week 6 action. Hopefully, this is just cautionary and the TE will wow and awe Gase. Paired with the return of Sam Darnold, the duo could be an exciting look for the rest of the season.
