Week 6 Fantasy Football Studs
Week 6 was a good week for the home teams. Home teams went 11-3 over the weekend. Hopefully, your fantasy teams fared just as well. If you started any of these studs, the chances are good that you were able to hold serve in your leagues. Here’s the list of top performers for Week 6, you can listen to the podcast for the full discussion.
Quarterbacks
Drew Brees vs CAR
–465 passing yards, 4 TDs, INT
There must be something in the Gumbo. Those Saints love their home cooking.
Matthew Stafford vs LA
–270 passing yards, 4 TDs, 14 rushing yards
The Lions had no RBs in this game, they went 3 WR sets the whole way and just let Stafford sling it.
Case Keenum @ DET
–321 passing yards, 3 TDs, INT, 7 rushing yards, rushing TD
Maybe this gives you faith to use Kenny Britt in DFS leagues, but otherwise, meh.
Marcus Mariota vs CLE
–284 passing yards, 3 TDs, INT, 64 rushing yards
A plus matchup and Mariota took advantage, finally.
Tom Brady vs CIN
–376 passing yards, 3 TDs
Get used to seeing stats like this from Mr. Bundchen.
Cam Newton @ NO
–322 passing yards, 2 TDs, INT, rushing TD, 2 pt conv
Newton led the Panthers on a furious comeback that came up short. This defense is going to continue to put Cam and the offense in tough spots: good news for fantasy owners.
Eli Manning vs BAL
–403 passing yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs
When OBJ is happy, Eli is happy, although he will never show it.
Matt Ryan @ SEA
-335 passing yards, 3 TDs, INT
Matt Ryan has now gone into Denver and up to Seattle and played well. This is what matchup proof looks like.
Andrew Luck @ HOU
–252 passing yards, TD, INT, 53 rushing yards, rushing TD
It’s a good thing that wins don’t count for fantasy football because the Colts aren’t interested in winning games.
Cody Kessler @ TEN
–336 passing yards, 2 TDs
Thanks rookie, now we can all use Barnidge and Pryor in our lineups.
Tyrod Taylor vs SF
–179 passing yards, 2 TDs, 68 rushing yards
The Bills absolutely curb stomped the Niners, so there you go.
Dak Prescott @ GB
–247 passing yards, 3 TDs, INT
There will be a mutiny if Tony Romo takes this job away from Dak.
Wide Receivers
Odell Beckham Jr. vs BAL
–8 receptions, 222 receiving yards, 2 TDs, 10 targets
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Kicking Net-Beckham.
Kenny Britt @ DET
–7 receptions, 136 receiving yards, 2 TDs, 8 targets
If you said this stat line belonged to Brian Quick, I’d believe you and go on living my life.
Brandin Cooks vs CAR
–7 receptions, 173 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
Cooks must be infuriating to own. In 5 weeks he has had two weeks under 5 fantasy points and 2 weeks over 25. Worth noting that both big weeks came in New Orleans.
Golden Tate vs LA
–8 receptions, 165 receiving yards, TD, 10 targets
Well, look who it is…
Terrelle Pryor @ TEN
–9 receptions, 75 receiving yards, 2 TDs, 13 targets
Offensive weapon extraordinaire, Pryor also attempted a pass and got a rushing attempt.
Julio Jones @ SEA
–7 receptions, 139 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
Stud.
Kendall Wright vs CLE
–8 receptions, 133 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
On a personal level, I was happy to see Wright back on the field. He has struggled with injuries for the past couple seasons.
Cole Beasley @ GB
–6 receptions, 58 receiving yards, 2 TDs, 6 targets
The Cowboys’ #1 WR.
Running Backs
LeSean McCoy vs SF
–19 carries, 140 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 2 receptions, 2 receiving yards
They will be having nightmares about slippery fish in San Francisco.
Jay Ajayi vs PIT
–25 carries, 204 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 1 reception, 3 receiving yards
The only thing Adam Gase hates more than Jay Ajayi is your fantasy team. Looking at you, Arian Foster owners.
Lamar Miller vs IND
-24 carries, 149 rushing yards, TD, 3 receptions, 29 receiving yards, receiving TD
As a Lamar Miller owner, this game wasn’t exciting, it was just a relief.
Terrance West @ NYG
–23 carries, 87 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 4 receptions, 36 receiving yards
They say you do your best running when you’re being chased. Pressure from the return of Kenneth Dixon is pushing West.
Spencer Ware @ OAK
–24 carries, 131 rushing yards, TD, 2 receptions, 32 receiving yards
This game had a perfect script for Ware. They had a lead and it was a rainy sloppy mess. Spencer Ware has a hold on this backfield and is not giving it up. He also leads the Chiefs in YAC.
James White vs CIN
–7 carries, 19 rushing yards, 8 receptions, 47 receiving yards, 2 TDs
It’s amazing to me that defenses aren’t better at stopping the Patriots RBs. Blount is going to run the ball, and White is going to catch it out the backfield. Defensive Coordinators, plan accordingly.
Christine Michael vs ATL
–18 carries, 64 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 3 receptions, 19 receiving yards
Michael must be getting tired, this dude hasn’t slept in weeks.
Jonathan Stewart @ NO
–19 carries, 85 rushing yards, 2 TDs
I wonder if the Cam Newton concussion a few weeks back will lead to more scoring opportunities for Stewart, like this.
Matt Jones vs PHI
–16 carries, 135 rushing yards, TD
Matt Jones, who?
Ezekiel Elliott @ GB
–28 carries, 157 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 17 receiving yards
Zeke must think the NFL is easy. With this offensive line, I bet he could’ve walked his way to 100 yards rushing.
Tight Ends
Rob Gronkowski vs CIN
–7 receptions, 162 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
Smash!
Coby Fleener vs CAR
–6 receptions, 74 receiving yards, TD, rushing TD
I’m going to say this again. Start. Your. Saints. At. Home.
Honorable Mentions
Amari Cooper vs KC
–10 receptions, 129 receiving yards, 13 targets
Cameron Meredith vs JAX
–11 receptions, 113 receiving yards, 15 targets
Michael Thomas vs CAR
–8 receptions, 60 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
Anquan Boldin vs LA
–8 receptions, 60 receiving yards, TD, 9 targets
Randall Cobb vs DAL
–7 receptions, 53 receiving yards, TD, 11 targets
Ty Montgomery vs DAL
–10 receptions, 98 receiving yards, 12 targets
Le’Veon Bell @ MIA
–10 carries, 53 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 55 receiving yards, 2 pt conv
C.J. Fiedorowicz vs IND
–6 receptions, 85 receiving yards, TD, 7 targets
Hunter Henry vs DEN
-6 receptions, 83 receiving yards, TD, 8 targets
