Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 7
As we approach the halfway point of the fantasy football regular season it is imperative that you stay active on the waiver wire to gain the upper hand as you prepare for a playoff push and with any luck a #FootClanTitle. The Footballers are here to help with their weekly waiver wire options. You can listen to this discussion every week on Tuesday’s podcast. If you need a QB streamer, those can be found in the QB Streamers segment/article.
Wide Receivers
Cameron Meredith @ GB (ESPN 32%, Yahoo 53%)
Meredith’s targets are off the chart, 27 in the last two weeks. Stay in the flames here.
Ty Montgomery vs CHI (ESPN 0.2%, Yahoo 2%)
Montgomery may serve as the Packers 3rd down back and slot receiver on Thursday night. He had 10 receptions in this role in Week 6.
Cole Beasley BYE (ESPN 44%, Yahoo 45%)
If you want to grab him cheap you can do it now, just know that he has a bye this week.
Donte Moncrief @ TEN (ESPN 47%, Yahoo 60%)
There is still no timetable for Moncrief’s return from injury, but Chuck Pagano has said he is “getting closer”. This offense really needs him.
Michael Thomas @ KC (ESPN 59%, Yahoo 67%)
Thomas has scored in three straight weeks and seems unaffected by the emergence of Coby Fleener as a threat in the passing attack.
Corey Coleman @ CIN (ESPN 33%, Yahoo 39%)
Coleman is still a stash at this point. He has not yet been cleared to practice (broken hand) and will not play in Week 7.
Golden Tate @ GB (ESPN 68.4%, Yahoo 74%)
He is worth owning, but you cannot expect him to continue his success from Week 6.
Mike Wallace @ NYJ (ESPN 64.0%, Yahoo 69%)
The Ravens made good on their promise to take more deep shots to Wallace under their new offensive philosophy. It worked. Wallace had a 70-yard reception and also drew a long pass interference call. Look for Wallace to take his newfound downfield success to Revis Island for a nice weekend getaway.
Kenny Britt vs NYG (ESPN 13.3%, Yahoo 13%)
The play of Case Keenum has improved since his horrendous play in the first two weeks of the season. Kenny Britt has been the primary beneficiary making some great plays downfield.
Running Backs
Jay Ajayi vs BUF (ESPN 42%, Yahoo 32%)
If you told me back in June that Ajayi would be a featured RB I would’ve believed you. However, since then the Dolphins have signed Arian Foster, raved about Kenyan Drake, and Ajayi landed in Gase’s dog house. Yet here we are, Ajayi has a chance to be the featured back going forward.
Jacquizz Rodgers @ SF (ESPN 29%, Yahoo 23%)
Doug Martin has yet to practice for the Buccaneers as he rehabs from his hamstring injury. If Martin misses this week’s game against the Niners, Rodgers becomes a great start. San Francisco just allowed 312 rushing yards to the Bills.
James White @ PIT (ESPN 49%, Yahoo 57%)
The production has always been there for the Patriots’ backfield. It’s just not for me. I don’t trust the Hoodie.
Chris Ivory vs OAK (ESPN 55%, Yahoo 43%)
If you’re in a touchdown-only league… petition for a rule change, quit, and sign Chris Ivory. Preferably in that order.
Derrick Henry vs IND (ESPN 56%, Yahoo 53%)
The former Crimson Tide RB has been effective in limited work. If he were to get an opportunity he would be a monster.
Devontae Booker vs HOU (ESPN 29%, Yahoo 27%)
The story here is similar to the Henry narrative. However, Gary Kubiak has said that the Broncos will work to get Booker more involved.
Alfred Morris BYE (ESPN 19%, Yahoo 15%)
The Butler is the most important handcuff in the league. If Ezekiel Elliott were to miss time, Alfred would be a league-winner.
Mike Gillislee @ MIA (ESPN 2%, Yahoo 4%)
Gillislee is getting some work even with Shady McCoy healthy and would be in line for an increased role if the slippery fish gets hooked.
Mike Davis vs TB (ESPN 0.1%, Yahoo 0%)
Shaun Draughn vs TB (ESPN 3.6%, Yahoo 2%)
While we wait for an update on Carlos Hyde’s status Davis and the Big Salad are worth speculative adds in deeper leagues.
Knile Davis (ESPN 0.1%, Yahoo 1%)
The Chiefs have traded Knile Davis to the RB-needy Packers in exchange for a late-round pick. Davis will likely be inactive for Week 7 but could get some run in future weeks.
Tight Ends
Jack Doyle @ TEN (ESPN 6%, Yahoo 12%)
6 weeks ago I said, “In all seriousness, this one was a fluke. Doyle’s second TD wasn’t even intended for the big TE. Move along.” I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to Jack Doyle and ask him if he would be so kind as to start for my TE needy teams in Week 7.
Cameron Brate @ SF (ESPN 23%, Yahoo 19%)
Cameron Brate is coming off of a bye, so he is likely available in your league. He has a good matchup this week.
Hunter Henry @ ATL (ESPN 49%, Yahoo 36%)
Henry might be the best playmaker on the San Diego offense at this point. Rivers loves to use the TE and Henry is rewarding that trust.
Ladarius Green NE (ESPN 4%, Yahoo 4%)
There still hasn’t been a clear update on Green’s health, but he is a high-upside stash.
Vernon Davis @ DET (ESPN 11%, Yahoo 4%)
Jordan Reed is meeting with an independent specialist today (Tuesday) as the next step in the concussion protocol. If he misses another game, Vernon Davis is a warm body.
Defense/Special Teams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ SF (ESPN 4.9%, Yahoo 3%)
Baltimore Ravens @ NYJ (ESPN 46.5%, Yahoo 34%)
Cincinnati Bengals vs CLE (ESPN 69.9%, Yahoo 48%)
