Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 16
Championship Week is here! This means that the Waiver Wire takes on a different role in your league. It is no longer the place to find potential production or stashes. You no longer need depth. You need to win this week at all costs. If you see an opportunity to drop handcuffs or other non-essential personnel and pick up a defense or streaming QB/TE to block your opponent from filling a roster need, do it. As always, the podcast is your place for Week 16 news and other #FootClanTitle discussion.
Wide Receivers
Malcolm Mitchell vs NYJ (ESPN 49%, Yahoo 51%)
In his last 4 games, excluding Denver, Mitchell scored 4 TDs. Now he gets the Jets. Keeey-Yaw!
Alshon Jeffery vs WAS (ESPN 81%, Yahoo 83%)
Jeffery is owned in your league. But… You need to go check right now. There would be nothing worse than having your opponent find Jeffery on waivers and start him against you.
Robby Anderson @ NE (ESPN 6%, Yahoo 7%)
High upside play. The deep threat for the Jets is risky against the Patriots but if you’re the underdog and need a lottery ticket, Anderson could be your guy.
Taylor Gabriel @ CAR (ESPN 62%, Yahoo 67%)
It is tough to start a guy with low volume, but he is electric.
Dontrelle Inman @ CLE (ESPN 40%, Yahoo 36%)
Very involved in an offense that takes on Cleveland this week.
Ty Montgomery vs MIN (ESPN 58%, Yahoo 60%)
Ty Montgomery needs to be your #1 waiver claim this week. Spend all of your priority/FAAB. He is a starting RB with WR eligibility (in most leagues) and he is sitting on waivers in Week 16.
Running Backs
Ty Montgomery vs MIN (ESPN 58%, Yahoo 60%)
I listed Montgomery again because he will help you whether you need a RB or a WR.
Ryan Mathews vs NYG (ESPN 74%, Yahoo 72%)
Alert: Darren Sproles has recovered from his concussion. However, you cannot trust news coming out of Philadelphia. Go with your gut.
Bilal Powell @ NE (ESPN 86%, Yahoo 71%)
Probably owned. Check.
Kenneth Farrow @ CLE (ESPN 60%, Yahoo 57%)
While Farrow disappointed owners in Week 15, he still got 17 touches. Sign me up for any player getting 17 touches against the Browns.
Dion Lewis vs NYJ (ESPN 43%, Yahoo 48%)
Lewis quietly led the Patriots in carries and rushing yards in Week 15. 18 carries for 95 yards means Dion Lewis is finally back to full strength.
Derrick Henry @ JAX (ESPN 41%, Yahoo 44%)
Derrick Henry is back to his early season form where he has value even with DeMarco Murray leading the way.
Tight Ends
Charles Clay vs MIA (ESPN 10%, Yahoo 13%)
Available in almost all leagues, Clay is a barfy TE with TD potential.
Cameron Brate @ NO (ESPN 66%, Yahoo 78%)
Probably the best TE on your waiver wire, if he’s available.
Defense/Special Teams
San Diego Chargers @ CLE (ESPN 37%, Yahoo 31%)
It’s Cleveland. The Chargers are not looking to be the first team to lose to the RGIII/Kessler led Browns.
Buffalo Bills vs MIA (ESPN 77%, Yahoo 75%)
Bills play at home for the 3rd straight week. This time against the Matt Moore show.
Houston Texans vs CIN (ESPN 71%, Yahoo 59%)
Even if A.J. Green returns it is doubtful that he will be 100%.
New York Giants @ PHI (ESPN 54%, Yahoo 33%)
The Giants have gone back to their roots this season. Generating a fierce pass rush with just 4 defenders. This causes problems for opposing QBs, especially rookie QBs who have had their share of struggles.
