Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 15
It’s Week 15 of the fantasy season, the playoffs are in full swing. Those of you reading this article are clearly savvy owners, so let’s just get down to business. Here are the guys who can help you secure a #FootClanTitle. The three amigos discuss their favorites on the podcast.
Wide Receivers
Malcolm Mitchell @ DEN (ESPN 52%, Yahoo 53%)
Exciting player tied to one of the best to ever play the QB position. The Patriots just lit up the Ravens who were a top ranked defense. Now they go on the road to face another top ranked defense in Denver.
Alshon Jeffery vs GB (ESPN 64%, Yahoo 69%)
Returning from his 4-game suspension, Alshon Jeffery needs to make up for lost time if he wants to get paid in the offseason. Preferably a wait-and-see stash for Week 16, but you can use him in a pinch.
Robbie Anderson vs MIA (ESPN 2%, Yahoo 2%)
Ironically, Anderson is the only New York Jets WR with legitimate jets to get behind defenses. He has been both the deep threat AND the volume WR for the Bryce Petty led offense. The speedster has double-digit targets in back to back weeks.
Taylor Gabriel vs SF (ESPN 51%, Yahoo 48%)
The Falcons could rest Julio Jones this week. Even if he does play I expect him to be used sparingly. This leaves the door open for Gabriel to take advantage of a San Francisco team that made Robbie Anderson and Bilal Powell look like superstars.
Marqise Lee @ HOU (ESPN 7%, Yahoo 11%)
He’s the #2 WR in an offense in which you can’t trust the #1 WR (Allen Robinson). I’ll pass if I have any other options.
Dontrelle Inman vs OAK (ESPN 27%, Yahoo 23%)
Inman is the last man standing in San Diego, for the second year in a row. The Chargers figure to lean on the arm of Philip Rivers even more with the injury to Melvin Gordon.
Ty Montgomery @ CHI (ESPN 35%, Yahoo 37%)
Montgomery is officially a RB for the Packers and should have dual-eligibility in all fantasy leagues. He’s their best RB both in the running the ball and in the short passing game. High upside.
Running Backs
Bilal Powell vs MIA (ESPN 37%, Yahoo 46%)
Locked and loaded RB2 this week with RB1 upside should Matt Forte miss the game. Even if Forte plays, Powell is usable in a pinch.
Kenneth Farrow vs OAK (ESPN 0.5%, Yahoo 4%)
Remember when I said you needed to handcuff your studs? Case and point. Melvin Gordon owners now must hope they don’t get blocked by their opponents.
T.J. Yeldon @ HOU (ESPN 59%, Yahoo 54%)
In Week 14 the only RBs to challenge Yeldon for touches were Bronson Hill and Corey Grant. If he’s the only show in town again in Week 15, he will have value.
Kenneth Dixon vs PHI (ESPN 46%, Yahoo 45%)
The rookie out-snapped Terrance West while pulling down 8 receptions in Week 14.
Charles Sims @ DAL (ESPN 12%, Yahoo 19%)
The Buccaneers coaching staff has expressed concerns about the production from their RBs. Sims could be the spark this offense needs.
Matt Asiata vs IND (ESPN 44%, Yahoo 46%)
I would not be comfortable banking my fantasy playoff hopes on a goal line back who plays for an anemic offense.
Jerick McKinnon vs IND (ESPN 58%, Yahoo 52%)
The slightly more exciting Viking RB to own.
Handcuffs
You don’t have to take my word for it on the importance of handcuffing your RBs. Just ask the Melvin Gordon and Matt Forte owners (they are the ones sobbing in the corner).
Derrick Henry [DeMarco Murray] (ESPN 45%, Yahoo 46%)
Mike Gillislee [LeSean McCoy] (ESPN 32%, Yahoo 27%)
DeAngelo Williams [Le’Veon Bell] (ESPN 21%, Yahoo 21%)
Alfred Morris [Ezekiel Elliott] (ESPN 16%, Yahoo 14%)
Alfred Blue [Lamar Miller] (ESPN 1%, Yahoo 2%)
Jeremy Langford [Jordan Howard] (ESPN 25%, Yahoo 24%)
Charcandrick West [Spencer Ware] (ESPN 23%, Yahoo 15%)
Tight Ends
Ladarius Green @ CIN (ESPN 54%, Yahoo 56%)
While he is not seeing a high percentage of snaps, Green is highly targeted when he is on the field.
Jermaine Gresham vs NO (ESPN 12%, Yahoo 4%)
Bruce Arians isn’t known for using his TEs, but this is an offense that is looking for a receiving threat besides Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson. John Brown and Michael Floyd are whispers in the wind at this point.
Vernon Davis vs CAR (ESPN 44%, Yahoo 28%)
High upside play if Jordan Reed continues to struggle in his return from injury.
Defense/Special Teams
Buffalo Bills vs CLE (ESPN 53%, Yahoo 61%)
It’s Cleveland.
Atlanta Falcons vs SF (ESPN 53%, Yahoo 43%)
The Falcons just got the Rams coach fired. What do you think they are going to do to the 49ers?
Houston Texans vs JAX (ESPN 44%, Yahoo 44%)
Bortles gonna Bortles.
Miami Dolphins @ NYJ (ESPN 36%, Yahoo 25%)
Both the Dolphins and the Jets defenses are interesting in this game that will feature Matt Moore vs Bryce Petty.
San Diego Chargers vs OAK (ESPN 41%, Yahoo 33%)
Derek Carr is clearly struggling with his double dislocated finger, but this is more of an add for the future as the Chargers play the Browns in Week 16.
Kickers
Don’t forget about kickers, especially this late in the season. You don’t want to lose a fantasy championship because you inadvertently started a kicker who played in a monsoon or blizzard.
Nick Novak vs JAX – Dome
Available in almost 75% of leagues, Novak has been productive and gets to kick in the friendly climate controlled confines of NRG Stadium.
Josh Lambo vs OAK – Southern California
Another productive kicker who is available in 80% of leagues. Lambo gets to kick in the greatest city on earth, San Diego. Southern California outlawed bad weather in 1984.
