NFL Week 2 Weather Conditions (Fantasy Football)
Last week was one of the wildest weather weeks seen in the last few years in terms of the quickness with which forecasts changed including the Chicago game that went from forecasts that called for some showers to so much rain that the field was under water. The point is, this is a living document. As games approach, updates will be posted since weather timelines and conditions can changed rapidly, which leads us to this week.
It’s looking much nicer. As of this writing, there are a few games that may see rain but it’s not looking like anything that will have a huge impact on fantasy scoring. I heard multiple analysts worried about rain for the 49ers game, but that’s looking scattered and light so far. There is a bigger worry for Jacksonville with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the area, but even that looks like the worst of it will clear out before kickoff. None the less, those are the two games I will be monitoring closest leading up to kickoff.
This weather article will be updated throughout the morning as forecasts evolve so check back in leading up to kickoff.

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills
Fantasy Impact: Hopefully the timeline holds out. Very strong winds (17 mph sustained, 28 mph gusts) and heavy rain should clear out right before kickoff although we can expect rain for most of the first quarter. The rain should stop and the winds will die down to about 10 mph. No fantasy impact.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
Fantasy Impact: It does look like there will be consistent rain during this game with periods of heavy rain. We already saw Trey Lance in rain and it wasn’t pretty. With George Kittle already out, it’s tough to trust Trey Lance outside of superflex leagues. Deebo Samuel remains safe and appears primed to be the focal point of the offense again. Brandon Aiyuk is a very risky start.
The Seattle offense is already suspect and the rain won’t help. Geno Smith played well last week, but still failed to make much of a fantasy splash. Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf combined for 64 yards in Week 1 and now deal with another tough matchup in less than ideal weather. Metcalf was still targeted a ton last week and he’s good enough to bust out a big play, but he’s now a play and pray. Lockett can be held out of lineups. Rashaad Penny should get the bulk of carries and should see some targets come his way offering a decent floor though not a huge ceiling. The Seattle TEs should see a lot of work again, but it’s fantasy roulette between Will Dissly, Noah Fant, and Cody Parkinson.
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
Fantasy Impact: There are still scattered showers in the area, but it doesn’t look like anything that would threaten thunderstorms or heavy rain. No fantasy impact.

Fantasy Impact: Scattered thunderstorms and scattered showers are making the forecast for this game difficult to nail down. It’s looking like rain and storms will be in the area in the late morning to early afternoon. By the time the game starts, most of that weather will have passed but there will still be an unlucky chance a scattered shower or thunderstorm could pop up during the game. As of this writing there is no fantasy impact but we’ll need to monitor the radar as game time approaches.

Fantasy Impact: There has been a lot of talk about the rain expected for this game, but it’s looking more like scattered showers that won’t be too hard (.02 inches of rain per hour). There is a chance for “localized” heavy rain, but I wouldn’t anticipate the rainfall to be anything approaching what we saw in Chicago last week. Even light rain can create issues handling the ball, but it’s not looking like the weather will have a definitive impact on the fantasy outlook of any players.
