Fantasy Football Saturday Mailbag for Week 17

Welcome to this weekly mailbag series! This article will take selected questions from The Footballers’ Discord server that you can join here. It’s been a great season and I want to thank everyone who read this each week. Enjoy this weekend as the football season is rapidly coming to a close. Good luck in all your matchups (and in choosing the right defenses to stream).

Question #1 – Start/Sit

Kc or denver defense? – adallasg

Answer: I think both are fine options this week, but I’m going with Denver’s defense. They’ve been solid all year and get to face a Chargers offense that’s without Keenan Allen, Josh Palmer, and of course Justin Herbert. This will also be a home matchup in good, but cold weather, around 32° F at kickoff.

2 QB league 6pt who do you pick Mason Rudolph, Tyrod Taylor, or Jacoby Brissett? – MiGatoGaming

Answer: First of all, in a two-QB league I’m looking at my opponent and seeing if I can block them since it’s championship week (or should be at least). If there’s any chance my opponent needs a QB, RB, WR, TE, DEF, or kicker I am dropping my bench to load up at that position and block them (as long as I’m not dropping players I’ll need next year.

In this case, I’m still picking up all three. Jacoby Brissett is leaning toward not playing. I wouldn’t want to get shut out if something happens to Mason Rudolph or Tyrod Taylor. Options, especially in a two-QB league, are a good thing. I lean toward Tyrod Taylor for the start.

Question #3 – Start/Sit

Seems like a stupid question. But I’m struggling between Mostert or Ty Chandler full PPR any advice greatly appreciated – JayGrizzHasTheRizz

Answer: This isn’t a stupid question at all. Raheem Mostert currently sits at RB2 and has been awesome all year for fantasy while racking up 18 TDs. The problem is he’s dealing with multiple injuries, De’Von Achane should be more involved this week, and Baltimore is a terrible matchup.

Ty Chandler is almost the complete opposite. He’s been very meh outside of his blowup game against Cincinnati in Week 15. He has a good matchup this week against Green Bay, but Alexander Mattison is back, which will eat into Chandler’s workload at a minimum, and could relegate Chandler back to backup duties if he struggles like he did last week.

I’m really feeling a little queasy about it, but I’m still rolling with Mostert. I don’t think we can expect him to get a huge workload, but with the season he’s had, I tend to think the coaches will try to get him into the end zone. The only argument for starting Chandler is if you’re a huge underdog this week. I don’t see Mostert getting 20+ points, so if I need a blowup game, I’m going to start Chandler.

Question #4 – Start/Sit

I have CMC, Zeke, Zamir, and Pacheco. In PPR which two would you choose for RB2 and flex? – Flixor

Answer: CMC is obviously the RB1 for this team. I don’t trust Isiah Pacheco even if he plays. He still hasn’t practiced and it’s hard to know how involved he’ll be if he’s in. For me, I’m rolling with Ezekiel Elliott and Zamir White.

Flex which one? PPR Austin Ekeler at DEN. Ja’Marr Chase at KC – BOOM!

Answer: This would normally be a no-brainer, but Ja’Marr Chase is questionable to play on Sunday. He’s also been talking a little trash though making me think he’s going to be out there. If Chase plays, I’d start him over Austin Ekeler. The good news is, both Cincinnati and the Chargers have kickoffs at the same time so you should be able to flex if Chase is held out.
