Week 1 Pick’Em Selections on DraftKings
GPP & Cash: Drew Brees vs. Tampa Bay
It just doesn’t get much better of a spot than this for Brees. He’s my top option overall in both cash and GPPs. Despite the narrative, Brees once again was elite last season finishing fourth in passing yards (4,334) and top four in a plethora of advanced passing statistics per Pro Football Focus. Brees gets to play at home and gets a Buccaneers defense that ranked dead last in passing yards allowed and 31st in Pass DVOA last year. Plus, with Jameis Winston suspended, Tampa Bay projects to struggle on offense which will constantly put the ball back in Brees’ hands. He’s going to smash.
GPP: Ben Roethlisberger at Cleveland
Big Ben’s tournament upside should be projected to increase without Le’Veon Bell in the lineup because it shifts the offense back into the hands of Roethlisberger. That could mean huge passing success since it’s hard not to salivate at the talent of Pittsburgh’s skill position players. Unlike in years past where there was the fear of a blowout in this spot, the Browns project to be a much better team this season and get to face the Steelers at home. Look for him to find success against a Browns’ defense that ranked 19th in passing yards allowed per game and 26th in Pass DVOA in 2017.
