Mixed results in loss
Ryan completed 20 of 23 passes for 216 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Saints.
Ryan led two straight scoring drives to start the game, but he threw his first interception since Week 12 on the Falcons' third offensive possession. The veteran quarterback ultimately salvaged his performance by tossing an 18-yard touchdown to Russell Gage with 21 seconds left in the game. Overall, Ryan's season totals don't look horrible -- 3,968 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions -- but the majority of that production (2,157 yards, 15 touchdowns) came during the first eight games of the season. The loss of Calvin Ridley (personal) after Week 7 clearly impacted Ryan's fantasy upside during the 2021 campaign, and it's unclear what the Falcons' offense will look like in 2022. Nonetheless, it's likely that regardless of Ridley's status, Kyle Pitts will have to continue emerging as a star pass catcher if Ryan hopes to bounce back next year.
