Ready for lead role, if active
Hunt (wrist/knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, is slated to be the Browns' No. 1 running back with Nick Chubb (calf) ruled out, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Chubb was unable to practice all week in the wake of the calf injury he picked up Week 5 against the Chargers in L.A. Hunt himself was a part of the rehab group Wednesday and Thursday as he tended to wrist and knee issues, but he set himself up for potential active status Sunday with a limited session Friday. Afterward, he said, "it felt pretty good, so we're going to see how it goes." Ultimately, the Browns won't reveal Hunt's availability -- or lack thereof -- until 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff, but all signs point toward the fifth-year pro leading Cleveland's backfield Week 6. If he mimics Chubb's workload on the season, Hunt will go from 14.4 touches per game to 19, putting him into the RB1 picture. Behind Hunt, Demetric Felton and D'Ernest Johnson are the running backs on the active roster, while John Kelly is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.
