Mike Boone, RB (DEN)

Could play Sunday

Coach Vic Fangio said Boone (quadriceps) is "ready to go," Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Fangio's update of Boone's progress is promising when it comes to his possible return to the field. Before that can happen, the Broncos will need to activate the 26-year-old running back from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders. Assuming Boone is activated, there is a chance that he could be relied upon right out of the gate, as his teammate Melvin Gordon is dealing with a hip issue that caused him to miss practice Wednesday. It is unclear if this new injury will cause Gordon to miss time, especially since Gordon has played through both rib and lower leg issues over the past two weeks. If the veteran misses time and Boone is in fact activated, it's likely he would immediately become Denver's No. 2 running back behind rookie Javonte Williams in Week 6. In this scenario, Boone is someone to keep an eye on for fantasy purposes, as Denver has utilized a split backfield through the first five weeks of the season.
