Time in Green Bay comes to an end

The Packers will waive Sternberger (suspension) on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sternberger opened the 2021 season with a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and rather than now add him back to the active roster, the Packers are opting to send the 2019 third-round pick to waivers. Across 18 career games in Green Bay the tight end only racked up 12 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Robert Tonyan is entrenched as the team's top option at the position. In all, a fresh start could be the best scenario for Sternberger's developmental prospects.
