Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Johnson's knee injury is "looking better, not to be confused with great," Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Though Johnson appears to have averted a major injury in Sunday's loss to the Raiders, his availability for this weekend's game against the Bengals remains very much up in the air. Before assessing Johnson's status for Week 3, the Steelers will see what kind of activity quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's top target is able to do in practices Wednesday through Friday. If Johnson is forced out of action against Cincinnati, James Washington would likely be the top candidate to claim the available reps alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool in three-receiver formations.
